Fear of Flying Courses, Assistance on British Airways Flights, Pre-course and Post-course Counselling.
- Are you aprehensive about flying?
- Do you miss holidays and business meetings because you are afraid to fly?
- Do you worry about having to take a flight weeks before it departs?
- Aviatours can help you fly more comfortably with their "Fear of Flying Courses"
Aviatours has been conducting flights for nervous passengers for many years with an extremely high success rate. These specially designed courses are held at London Heathrow
Airports every two or three months. More than 20,000 people have now been on these flights. Their primary goal is to enable people to cope with both the thought and act of flying. To achieve this Aviatours have tailored their course over the years to accommodate all the different types of fears that people may have. The course starts at approximately 9.00am finishing between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. The presenters are British Airways Pilots led by Captain Peter Hughes and they are assisted by an eminent Clinical Psychologist who has considerable experience in dealing with nervous passengers. The course is run at a personal level and has received much acclaim for its caring approach. Questions are encouraged throughout the day.
A tea and coffee reception starts the day at the venue which is a local four star Hotel at London Heathrow Airport or the excellent Atlantic Suite at Manchester Airport. There is strong evidence to suggest the lack of knowledge abut how an aircraft flies and how it is operated by the pilots is one of the main causes of people's fear of flying. The British Airways Pilots give a detailed talk, illustrated by slides, explaining the technical side of aviation and the many associated subjects. This has been found to be particularly valuable to our course participants.
Break for lunch or refreshments
This is a very useful time to relate to other participants. Approximately 100 people attend each course and it is important to realise that you are not alone in your fear.
The Clinical Psychologist discusses at length the psychological aspects of aviation and how best to deal with problems. Lack of control, claustrophobia, fear of tube trains, lifts, heights and fear of falling links many nervous passengers. They have considerable experience of these fears and of the best methods of overcoming them.
The flight on a British Airways
jet aircraft lasts 45 minutes. Passengers are accompanied by the Psychologist, at least one assistant and two British Airways Captains, one of whom will give a running commentary explaining various phases of flight from the flight deck. This aspect of the course has been found to be very reassuring for nervous passengers and helps them to cope with future flights.
The staff are well trained, professional and sympathetic. After the course you will be able to take with you the necessary skills and knowledge to overcome your fear of flying in the future. From extensive research conducted by Aviatours, the course has proved to be extremely beneficial to nervous flyers and is strongly recommended by those who have already taken the course. These are extracts from three of the many letters received from the course participants:
"I now write to thank you for a wonderful, exciting and informative day. You were kind and funny and made us laugh at our fears. Thank you most sincerely for the gift of fear flying."
"I have not flown for 26 years. Believe me, it was not easy to take those final steps onto the plane, but I did it. Once again, many thanks."
"I have just returned from the best holiday I can remember, and it is all thanks to you."
Aviatours has received wide publicity over the past twelve years from the media for its work in this field. Their flights have featured in numerous articles, radio and television programmes.
Please note that these are no smoking flights as are all British Airways domestic flights. If you are taking the flight only, but wish to sit beside someone who is doing the full course, then this can be easily arranged provided you inform Aviatours of your requirements at the time of booking. For those passengers not on the course but who are accompanying a course participant, the Airport at Manchester and the Hotel at London offer excellent facilities for relaxation and entertainment.
